Milwacky...

The tour bus failed midway across country so we called Bob Fagan in Milwacky, who got us a station wagon and a u-haul. We drove in Midwestern circles picking up shows to fund a new bus, which eventually got us to Texas, by way of Ray Drew in Kansas City, MO. He was a bluesman with a car, who drove us to Arkansas, and back to Kansas City to the neighborhood boys who managed to light our bus on fire, prior to eventually making it roadworthy. Ray had a lotta money in his cap, and whittled his own guitar. We jammed with him.

It was Easter everywhere and a 14 day studio event there. We rushed the mixes. Frankie V & Tommy-gun (Champlin) were along on this tour, along with Evan Williams, and Becky Sturdivant from Lexington Kentucky. We totally dug her improvisational style, which lended to the development of the Sea Hunt Suite which was basically a jazz oriented piece of soundtrack music for the film, which was never made, kinda bubbly, and we were trying out some funkier things. The HAT COMES FIRST belongs to Also Aswell's Cosmic Ray Deflection Society (now defunct) from Greensboro/New Orleans, sounding too much like Road House Blues by the Doors, you know those doors... Chuck, where are ya? Demon, our computer crashed and we lost your address. I remember one night in N'Orleans I insisted on decking out in Spanish moss. Becky went right along with me, may we show you our collection, and certain hallucinatory events associated with the western plains of Canada, wish you were there.

And the circles of fire, way out west, and the two-headed calves, the many boot hills and cattle ranches and corn corn corn midwestern fields, bumping around on the bus, watching the charts and writing home...
